Substances Detected

  • THC (Marijuana)

  • Benzodiazepines

Specimen Collection Options

At checkout, donors select a nail specimen type based on availability. Fingernail collection is recommended whenever possible.

  • Fingernail Collection (Recommended): Clippings from all 10 fingers, approximately 2 to 3 mm in length (about the depth of a nickel). Detection window up to approximately 6 months. Collection must take place at an approved collection site with trained staff present; fingernail specimens cannot be substituted with toenails.
  • Toenail Collection (Extended Detection Window): Used when fingernail collection is not possible. Toenail clippings may provide a longer historical detection window due to slower nail growth, and results may reflect drug exposure occurring approximately 6 months or longer prior to collection. Detection windows vary by individual and drug type, and toenail collection may require special scheduling or approval.
  • Insufficient Sample Available: Donors who are unsure whether they have enough nail material should contact ReliaLab Test before collection. An insufficient specimen may result in a cancelled or incomplete test.
  • Court or Legal Ordered Testing: May require additional documentation, chain-of-custody procedures, and a verified collection location that follows legal testing requirements.

Fingernail and toenail specimens cannot be combined in the same collection. The sample must be entirely fingernail or entirely toenail clippings.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly will I receive my results?

Negative urine and instant test results are typically available within 24 hours. Hair test results are delivered within 5–7 business days through USDTL or Quest/Labcorp. Positive results may require additional MRO confirmation and can take 48–72 hours. All results are delivered to Email.

Are my results confidential?

Yes. All testing is 100% confidential and HIPAA compliant. Results are delivered exclusively to the ordering party through Email, our secure encrypted results portal. We do not share results with any third party without your authorization.

Can I order tests for multiple employees?

Yes. We offer employer programs including pre-employment testing, random testing pools, DOT consortium enrollment, and post-accident programs. Contact us at 615-332-8838 to discuss volume pricing and program setup.

What are Instant (ERO) tests and how do they work?

Instant tests through the Quest ERO (Electronic Results Online) network deliver results at the collection site on the same day. They are available at Quest PSC sites and are ideal for situations where same-day decisions are needed. Negative results are available immediately; any non-negative results are confirmed by the lab.

Do you offer DOT-compliant testing?

Yes. We offer DOT-compliant urine drug testing that meets all requirements under 49 CFR Part 40 for FMCSA, FAA, FRA, FTA, PHMSA, and USCG regulated employers. DOT testing includes MRO review and is available through both Quest Diagnostics and Labcorp.

What is the difference between hair and urine testing?

Urine tests detect recent drug use within the past 1–5 days for most substances. Hair tests detect use over a 90-day window and cannot be defeated by short-term abstinence. Hair testing through USDTL is the gold standard for pre-employment, probation, and custody applications. Urine testing via Quest and Labcorp is the standard for DOT compliance.
